Communicate with Passion

So few people really speak with true conviction and passion these days.

Perhaps that’s more of a statement about the people that I usually talk with, but I was reminded last night in a conversation that there is something particularly moving about a face-to-face conversation with a person. All the little things: tone, intensity, volume, physical proximity, arm gestures…. suddenly hearing a story was as much about the story as it was about the manner in which the story was told.

The contrast is even more acute when compared to the vast electronic domain of binary emotions. In this world of digital facts and synthesized messages I forget the joys and pleasures of what it means to get to know a person instead of getting to know their facts.

I do not want to forget.
